The final season of Poldark has hit the UK’s screens!
So why not plan a personalised Poldark tour?
Poldark series five began on Sunday 14th July at 9pm on BBC1.The eight-episode series will continue on Sunday evenings.
In the US, Poldark will launch on Sunday 29th September at 9/8c on PBS Masterpiece.
What can we expect from series five?
The BBC has revealed that, rather than jump forward a decade to pick up on Winston Graham’s The Stranger From the Sea, the fifth and final TV series would fill in the missing events leading up to that novel, which begins in 1810.
“In The Stranger from the Sea, Winston Graham made many references to developments that happened in the ‘gap’ years. Much can also be inferred,” explained writer Debbie Horsfield.
“There are, of course, also historical events and people of the time, both in Cornwall and in London. Series five will draw on all of these to follow the lives of the Poldarks, George Warleggan, the Enyses, and the Carnes in this intervening period.”
Is this really the final series?
In theory, yes, it is. However, there is some ambiguity in the voice of executive producer Karen Thrussell who teased: “This will be the last series in the Poldark chronicle… for now. Who knows what the future may bring.” There are still unexplored novels from Winston Graham to explore, after all!
